Key takeaway
The program defined a Cyber Guardians tier of 12 experts and a Cyber Defenders tier for incoming members, with plans to share Zero Trust practices and develop joint materials.
Zero Dwell Trusted Security Advisory Community
On March 8, 2023, Xcitium introduced the Zero Dwell Trusted Security Advisory Community for cybersecurity professionals and their teams. The program was designed as a forum for experts around the world to share experience and practices in real time and discuss security challenges together.
A practical discussion of Zero Trust
Xcitium said the program responded to the broad use of Zero Trust alongside vague explanations that can confuse business leaders. Gartner analysis cited by the company emphasized the need to explain both benefits and challenges and to treat Zero Trust as an architecture, set of principles and organizational change—not a single product.
Membership and program leadership
Dr. Erdal Ozkaya, Xcitium Chief Cybersecurity Strategist and CISO, chaired the program at launch. Its Cyber Guardians tier comprised 12 recognized experts from around the world to lead the community; Cyber Defenders was for incoming members meeting minimum participation requirements.
Collaboration and community outputs
Members were to discuss industrial and enterprise infrastructure, workflows, threats, products and methods. Planned outputs included white papers, contributed articles, blogs and speaking events. Chaim Sanders, Lyft Head of Security Operations and a Cyber Guardian, stressed the value of shared expertise, especially for smaller companies; independent consultant Raymond Comvalius noted the difficulty of one team keeping up with the pace and variety of attacks.
